Entrance and exits shall be posted in each room. 2. Evacuation policies shall be posted in each room. 3. There should be no children left unattended in the nursery area. 4. For the safety of the children and the nursery workers, there should always be at least two paid workers per room for each event. 5. For the safety of our younger children, no child over the age of two (meaning the child did not turn three before September 1, 2007) should be in the nursery area. 6. Only paid workers (who have had background checks) should change a child ’ s diaper in the nursery area. 7. All cleaning supplies will be clearly marked and kept out of reach of the children. 8. All electrical outlets shall remain covered with safety plugs except when in use. 9. Nursery workers will not give medication to a child for any reason. If a child needs medication while in the care of the nursery provider, the parent will be paged to administer the medication. 10. In the event of a life threatening situation, 911 will be called first then the parent will be notified. 11. All children must be checked in through the sign in process. 12. Children will only be released to a person that the employee recognizes as having the authority to take possession of the child. 13. Anyone handling the children will wash his/her hands upon entering the room, before feeding the children, and after each diaper change. 14. The trash will be taken to the dumpster after each event unless there will be another event later in the day. 15. All toys and surface areas will be sanitized at the end of each event. 16. For the safety of the children ’ s hearts and minds, only wholesome talk is allowed in the nursery area. This includes not only using appropriate language but also using encouraging words and inflections in our voices. We will always remain gentle towards the children. 17. The wellness policy MUST be followed at all times (please see the wellness policy below). Wellness Policy Any child or adult suffering from a doubtful rash, sore throat, or discharge from eyes, ears, or nose should not be brought to the nursery unless a doctor has checked him/her and determined the illness is not contagious. If your child has a fever or diarrhea, we ask that you do not bring him to the nursery until all symptoms have been clear for 24 hours without medication. If your child becomes ill while in our care, you will be contacted immediately. Some viruses can remain airborne and cause contamination even days after the sick child has left the area therefore, if a child has any of the above mentioned symptoms or any other symptoms of a contagious disease, he may not be brought into the nursery area, even if there are no other children present. Diaper Changing Policy 1. Diapers shall be changed on an as needed basis as well as checked at scheduled times. 2. Children will always be changed on a changing table, never the floor. 3. Gloves will be worn when changing soiled diapers. 4. Diaper changing surfaces will be sanitized after each use. 5. Hands will be washed after each diaper change. 6.
